Facilities & Service Centers

The International Student Exchange Center (ISEC) promotes and supports the exchange of educational research with colleges in other countries. It offers several services including Japanese language programs and Japanese cultural courses for international students. It also keeps information on study abroad up to date for the students of Gakugei University.

The library is located at the center of the campus. During the semester, it's open between 8:30 a.m. and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays. On average, over 1,500 students and faculty use this library. There are over 130 thousand volumes and journals, which can be used with an open-access library system, located on the first and second floors. There are also 500 seating areas available for use.

The CRSEP mission is to promote teacher training and teaching in intimate association with the colleges, graduate schools, and affiliated schools and communities, as well as conducting comprehensive and developmental support for education and research. The center consists of the following five sections: the Department of Educational and Clinical Research; the Department of Teaching Practice and Guidance; the Department of Support for Information Technology; the Department of Support for Special Needs Education; and the Department of Support for Life-Span Development.
This institute conducts research on the methodology of field studies and promotes environmental education in schools. In our educational farm, genetic resources for botanical teaching materials are systematically conserved. The institute provides opportunities for students and children to learn how to study the environment and acquire the knowledge and skills through traditional field activities.
This center is composed of the following three sections : Curriculum Structure Research and Development; Teacher Training Research and Development; and In-Service Teacher Training Research and Development. As a national common-use institute these sections provide opportunities for students to conduct research, develop professional skills and exchange information within the teacher training and school curriculum.
Staffed by physicians, medical support staff and psychologists, the Student Health & Counseling Center provides high quality, affordable primary outpatient health care, preventative health care, individual and group counseling, consultation and education to aid in student health.

Originally founded in 1978 as " Center for the Education of Children Overseas", as a national common-use institute. However, the name was revised to " Center for Research in International Education." to reflect expanding conditions. This center is staffed by a team of experts engaged in research on the education of overseas returnees, and foreign students.
The Information Processing Center serves GARNet(Gakugei Research Network), which is connected to the internet, and the computer system on campus.

Tokyo Gakugei University (TGU) has 14 affiliated schools in which about 6200 students are learning. These schools provide the students with a commom education, making a special effort to observe teaching methods through practical research in connection with TGU. Each year , these schools receive around 1400 TGU students, who student-teach in preperation to become teachers themselves.
