Background & Purport

As issues concerning contemporary school education become more diverse and complex, assuring the quality of the teacher education of the following three classes of teachers is emerging as a mutually related problem: (1) general teachers who teach in primary and secondary schools, (2) principals, supervisors, and other educational leaderships who bring together and manifest the educational abilities of those general teachers at each school or in each region, and (3) university faculty who are responsible for the education of those general teachers and educational leaderships.

Universities in the East Asian region, which share these issues, will construct a systematic research structure, implement international collaborative research, and seek solutions. They will also draft a special doctoral course through cooperation among universities of education in East Asia, based on the results of this cooperation.
