The 6th International Symposium on the Teacher Training in East Asia

 The 6th International Symposium on the Teacher Training in East Asia (called it as “The 6th International Symposium of Teacher Education Institutions in East Asian Countries” in Korea) was held at Seoul University of Education in Korea on Jun 11th, 2011(Sat) (regarding the program, refer to Appendix 1). The presidents and researchers of 38 universities of teacher training/education in Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Vietnam attended the symposium in Seoul, and they reported and discussed traditional culture of East Asia and education for today’s teachers. Dr. Yoshimi Tanaka, the Vice President and the Director of Tokyo Gakugei University reported ”New Challenges for Teacher Education Deep-Rooted East Asian Concept of Teacher in an Increasingly Globalized World :A Proposal for International Comparative Study on Current Conditions and Perspectives of Program Design and Quality Assurance System for University-Based Teacher Education in East Asia.”(refer to Appendix 2). He also appealed for participation in the International collaborative research. It was approved in the president meeting that the 7th International Symposium on the Teacher Training in East Asia with the subject of “Quality Assurance for Teacher Education” is to be held at Tokyo Gakugei University.
